Dr. Pouya Shafipour, MD, has spent the last 3 1/2 years working at the Motion Picture and TV Fund Medical Group where he provided care to the Motion Picture Industry members. Over the past 2 years, he has used the TRANSFORMATIONS 360 Program for weight loss, diabetes prevention and weaning patients off lifestyle induced medication. His patients where patients not only were able to lose significant weight, but also learned life-long methods to maintain their lost weight.

Dr. Shafipour is specializing in a field of medicine known as Bariatric Medicine. Bariatric physicians use safe and effective medication in conjunction with dietary, nutritional, behavioral, and exercise counseling to care for the obese and overweight patients. After finishing his residency he pursued his passion in obesity treatment and through extensive training by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and The prestigious Harvard Obesity Courses, he has developed a weight loss program that not only focuses on healthy loss of weight but more on a well-organized maintenance program. This program causes weight loss and maintenance of a healthy weight through a multi-level personalized approach of dietary and lifestyle transformation.
Dr. Shafipour received his B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. He then continued his graduate studies and received a Masters degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. Afterwards he went on to attend Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where he received his M.D. in 2003. He completed his internship in General Surgery from UC Irvine and residency in Family Medicine under the auspices of UCLA and became board certified in Family Medicine in 2008.
Dr. Shafipour became interested in lifestyle transformation when he attended a peak performance health and lifestyle coaching conference in 2004. Following the conference he personally took some radical measures and transformed his way of eating and implemented daily exercise into his life. The impact of this transformation encouraged him to further pursue incorporating the idea of a sustainable healthy lifestyle into his practice of medicine.
He pursued further training in bariatric medicine through courses offered through the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, American Board of Bariatric Medicine, and the Obesity Society.
Dr. Shafipour has opened his Private Medical Clinic, Wellesley Medical, as of January 4, 2012.
